Project overview

Hansel & Petal, a boutique floral company specializing in eco-friendly arrangements, sought to refresh their visual identity through a beautifully crafted brochure. The piece needed to showcase their lush floral designs, sustainable practices, and personalized services while appealing to both everyday customers and event clients. The goal was to convey natural beauty, sophistication, and environmental mindfulness while maintaining a polished yet welcoming tone.

Role: Sole Graphic Designer

Deliverables: Brand identity assets (color palette, typographic system), print-ready files (tri-fold brochure design)

Tools: InDesign, Photoshop

Industry: Retail Trade - Floral

Duration: 7/3/2024 - 7/15/2024

Objectives

  • Establish a refined yet inviting visual identity for a floral brand.

  • Create a brochure layout that communicates both artistry and professionalism.

  • Develop consistent brand elements — typography, color palette, and imagery — that align with the floral theme.

  • Ensure print-readiness and cohesive storytelling through composition and hierarchy.

Design approach

Guided by Expressive Storytelling

Warm, earthy hues and gentle neutrals grounded the brand’s organic tone, while elegant typography provided contrast and clarity. The overall aesthetic aimed to evoke freshness, calm, and natural sophistication—like walking into a sunlit greenhouse.

Visual design development

The color palette combined a cozy warm brown with soft blues and neutral grays to create a sense of harmony and calm, while a deep raisin black added strong readability and elegant contrast.

For typography, Fairwater Script introduced personality and charm to the headers, complemented by Montserrat’s clean, modern readability for supporting text—striking an ideal balance between expressive flair and professional clarity.

Outcome & reflection

The final brochure successfully communicated Hansel & Petal’s mission and offerings while enhancing the brand’s credibility. It delivered a high-quality, professional print piece that reflected warmth, sophistication, and eco-conscious beauty.

This project deepened my understanding of balancing visual storytelling with structured information—an essential skill in brand-driven print design.

Final thoughts

Designing Hansel & Petal was like curating a bouquet of creativity and purpose. It taught me how to blend sustainability with style and strengthened my confidence in aligning design aesthetics with brand values. I left the project feeling inspired to keep crafting materials that not only look beautiful but mean something too.

If expanded further, I’d explore developing a cohesive print and digital campaign that extends Hansel & Petal’s brand story across multiple touchpoints. This could include social media visuals highlighting seasonal arrangements, interactive lookbooks featuring floral care tips, and promotional postcards for weddings and events. I’d also integrate a QR code linking directly to an online catalog or bouquet customization page, allowing users to explore collections and place orders instantly—enhancing engagement, accessibility, and the brand’s connection to its eco-conscious audience.
