Notebook with website wireframe sketches on a desk, beside a blue pen and a phone. A keyboard is in the background.

There’s this idea that play is a luxury — something reserved for free time, open spaces, cozy rooms, and soft moments.

  • But what happens when you’re in a place where none of those things exist?

  • What does play look like in a concrete box?

  • What does hope sound like when the only thing you hear is your own heartbeat and the buzz of fluorescent lights?

Tier Gameshow Olympics (TGO) was born from those questions.

This project grew from a deep respect for resilience in its rawest form — the kind that refuses to break, even when society tries to box people in. It's a response to that strength, and a refusal to let isolation silence the human spirit. It's a socially conscious game system designed for people in the most isolating environments, especially those in correctional segregation who often have nothing but time…and the weight of it.

But here’s the thing — time shouldn’t crush you.

Sometimes, time can build you back up.

Why Games? Why This?

Games are connection. Games are stimulation. Games are self-worth, challenge, routine, pride, laughter, and mental oxygen.

When you’re alone and cut off from the world, challenges matter. Brainwork matters. Having something to look forward to matters. And joy? Joy is survival fuel.

TGO brings classic competition energy and rebuilds it for environments where:

  • no tech is allowed

  • minimal materials are permitted

  • security rules limit information and supplies

  • the brain craves stimulation and purpose

Paper-based. Voice-play friendly. Isolation-resilient. Community-sparking. A system designed to spark joy, build mental stamina, and restore a sense of dignity.

Because playful minds survive hard places differently.

Design Rooted in Human Stories, Not Assumptions

This wasn’t designed from a detached perspective. This work is shaped by real voices, lived narratives, alongside research on the psychological effects of isolation and experience supporting prison-reform advocacy efforts. It represents the intersection of design, dignity, and justice — driven by the belief that humanity and mental wellness must be protected, even in the most restrictive environments.

Every element of this work is shaped by the convergence of:

📣 Social impact through small-scale revolution

🧠 Cognitive resilience

💙 Emotional stamina

🏛️ Carceral system awareness

🎨 Human-centered experience design

It’s simple on the surface — but simple is deceptive. Sometimes the most powerful designs aren’t digital screens or flashy interfaces. Sometimes they’re graphite smudges, folded paper, and a spark in someone’s eyes.

The Bigger Why

We talk a lot about rehabilitation. We almost never talk about mental survival.

We talk about punishment. We rarely talk about humanity.

TGO isn’t just about entertainment. It's about dignity. It's about keeping the mind sharp, the spirit awake, and the door cracked open for hope.

Because resilience shouldn't be a privilege. And joy shouldn’t be contraband.

In Development

Building toward a full cognitive-wellness system designed for routine, challenge, meaningful engagement, and cognitive wellbeing.

Final Thought

Play is not frivolous

Play is resistance.

Play is survival.

And even in confinement, the mind deserves freedom.
